Potential Side Effects

The most common side effect with SYMBYAX is drowsiness. If drowsiness bothers you, your doctor may recommend taking SYMBYAX earlier in the evening so that this effect has worn off before you get up in the morning.

Other possible side effects of SYMBYAX include weight gain, diarrhea, dry mouth, increased appetite, feeling weak, swelling of the hands and feet, tremor, sore throat, and trouble concentrating.

Serious side effects reported by patients treated with SYMBYAX include: severe allergic reactions; strokes and "mini-strokes" called transient ischemic attacks (TIAs); high blood sugar or diabetes; neuroleptic malignant syndrome (NMS); tardive dyskinesia; low blood pressure; seizures; impaired judgment; impaired motor skills; trouble swallowing; abnormal bleeding; low salt levels in the blood; and body temperature problems.

SYMBYAX has not been studied in children under 18 and is not approved for this age group. Additionally, all antidepressants carry a warning of increased risk of suicidal thinking and behavior in children and adolescents with depression and other psychiatric disorders. Read the Safety Information to learn more.

You may have some of these side effects or none at all.

If you have any questions or concerns about side effects, talk to your doctor. You should not stop taking SYMBYAX unless your doctor tells you to do so.
